First Penance Service is Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 10 am in the Church. We ask that parents/guardians remain with the children during the service. After they have made their individual Confession and said their prayers, the children may then leave. Please no food or drink in the Church. The children may wear play clothes. We will schedule a make-up date for making First Penance if needed.

First Communion Celebration is Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the regular Parish Masses at 9 AM and 11 AM. There will be May Crownings of the Blessed Mother after both Masses. The families of Religious Education and Our Lady’s Academy celebrate First Eucharist combined randomly as a group – one group at the 9 AM Mass and one group at the 11 AM Mass. The groupings will be announced at the Parent Meeting on March 31, 2019. Children sit with their families in dedicated pews indicated by a decorated family banner. Banner kits are distributed to each family prior to the celebration.

Rehearsal

Rehearsal is Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 9 am to 10 am for those in the 9 am Sunday celebration and at 10 am to 11 am for those in the 11 am celebration.

Dress Code

Boys can wear the traditional white communion suit, but this is not required. They may wear a suit of another color or dress pants, shirt and tie.

Girls can wear the traditional white communion dress with the veil. The veil is not required – they can wear a headband, some small flowers or any other appropriate hair accessory or nothing instead of the veil. Girls cannot wear gloves however and neither boys nor girls may carry rosaries. Hands must be bare and empty to receive the Host.

Photographer

We will hire a professional photographer who will take a group photo prior to each ceremony as well as individual pictures of each child as they receive their First Communion. We ask that no photos be taken during the ceremony at all – this is a firm rule.
