CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR PASTOR, FR. JAMES M. DIPERRI AS HE CELEBRATES HIS 34TH YEAR IN THE PRIESTHOOD
We have been truly blessed as a parish to have Fr. James DiPerri as our Pastor for the past 14 years.
Let us all pray in thanksgiving for Fr. DiPerri as he celebrates his 34th Anniversary of Priesthood Ordination this weekend, June 25/26.
The image below illustrates the Chalice containing the Blood of CHrist and Sacred Host which is the Body of Christ resting upon the Sacred Scriptures, covered by the priestly stole of ordination highlighting the significance of Mass. The olive branches symbolize the sacraments that blessed oil is used in their celebration. This image appeared on Fr. DiPerri's first Mass program in 1988.
Act of Consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary written by Fr. DiPerri
Prayed publicly at first Mass on June 26, 1988 and continues to pray yearly on Ordination Anniversary.
O Most loving Mother of God, as I continue the work of your Son, I confidently entrust my priestly calling to you. Guide and protect me that I may be faithful to your Son, Jesus, and His Church, by fulfilling the sacred promises of my priestly vocation.
In my consecration to you, the Queen of Peace, may I ever seek refuge in your Immaculate Heart as I journey on this sacred pilgrimage.
May I grow deeper in my love for the One God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; and for His people. Holy Mother, may I remain faithful in God's service to the end.
Amen
70th ANNIVERSARY OF RELIGIOUS VOWS AS A SISTER
SR. MARIE PATRICE CARR, CSJ
Sister Marie grew up in Dorchester, the 7th of 8 children. When she was in 2nd grade, she first saw the Sisters of St. Joseph's kindness, which made an impression on her. She joined the St. Joseph Sisterhood after graduating from Cardinal Cushing Central in South Boston.
Over the years, she taught ESL in a literacy program in Brighton and taught every subject to grades 1-6 at various parochial schools in the area. In addition, she was also a part of Bridge Over Troubled Waters, a non-profit, serving homeless, runaway, and at-risk youth.
Sister Marie came to Our Lady’s over a decade ago, and she has blessed our community as a religion teacher, teachers’ aide, and Eucharistic Minister during her time here. She loves bringing Communion to parishioners who are homebound and she enjoys getting to know every person she meets. Following the spirit of the Sisters of St. Joseph's ministry, Sister Marie engages in spiritual and corporal works of mercy so that justice, peace, freedom, and human dignity may prevail.
Thank you, Sister Marie, for your 70 years of devotion and all you bring to Our Lady’s School and Parish.

Bishops throughout the world joined the Pope spiritually, including at a special service at Fatima. Pray wherever you may be for this special intention –WORLD PEACE and an END to ALL WARS – especially for Russia and Ukraine. In 1917 Our Lady at Fatima asked future Popes to lead the world in praying for this particular intention. In 1984 Pope John Paul II led the world in this prayer request.

Pope Francis invites all Churches, universally, to reflect on a theme that is decisive for its life and mission: “It is precisely this path of synodality which God expects of the Church of the third millennium.” This journey, which follows in the wake of the Church’s “renewal” proposed by the Second Vatican Council, is both a gift and a task: by journeying together and reflecting together on the journey that has been made, the Church will be able to learn through Her experience which processes can help Her to live communion, to achieve participation, to open Herself to mission. All Archdiocesan parishes are asked to submit a three page letter to Cardinal Seán O’Malley. A report of our parish will be sent, your feedback will be helpful. Any feedback is asked to be forwarded to Paul Loscocco at pfal@rcn.com

PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL, THE ARCHANGEL
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all evil spirits who prowl the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

73rd CONSECUTIVE OUTDOOR WEEKEND MASS, OCTOBER 10
Thank you to those who volunteered last weekend and this weekend to collect the signatures needed for the Citizen initiative petition for the 2022 ballot—to protect babies born alive with proper medical care. This proposed law would require that, notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, if a child is born alive, all reasonable steps in keeping with good medical practice shall be taken to preserve the life of that child.
With the passage of the ROE Act last December, Massachusetts is now among the most pro-death states in the country having removed the existing state law mandating lifesaving medical care to be administered to a child who survives an abortion. The Massachusetts Newborn Protection Coalition is conducting a fall statewide signature campaign to place a question on the 2022 ballot ensuring life-saving medical care for babies born alive after a failed abortion and to best reflect existing law that ensures proper health care provided to all people. Those people who have differing views on life even support this common sense measure as a basic fundamental right to life and basic healthcare. Volunteers will be available before and after each of the Masses this weekend, October 16/17 to acquire signatures.
Thank you very much for helping to protect the most vulnerable among us.

CURRENT REVISIONS TO HEALTH PROTOCOLS: (Re-stated from May 29/30 parish email)
As widely known, health officials of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts have updated health protocols within the State. The federal CDC prior made similar changes. The Archdiocese of Boston has adjusted its measures, as it has closely followed the civil health regulations since March 2020. Our Lady’s Parish has followed these protocols in what methods work most effectively here.
Effective Saturday May 29, 2021 within the Commonwealth: (including our church)
Health requirements call for masks to be worn by people who are non-vaccinated.
Wearing of masks outdoors and inside public places are not required for fully vaccinated people.
The option of wearing a mask for vaccinated individuals is one’s personal discretion.
All have the responsibility to best ensure the health of themselves and others. Anyone who is sick or has symptoms of illness, should avoid public worship. The usual Sunday requirement for Catholics in good health to attend in-person Mass temporarily remains an option by the Cardinal. However, the spiritual necessity to join at Mass – whether in-person or virtual certainly remains essential for those in good health.
Social Distancing is no longer required in the Commonwealth. However, prudence is the responsibility of all.
is requested as all church pews will be open to worshippers.
Volunteers will temporarily remain to assist in the general seating of people. (A reminder: People choosing to sit at church pew ends (excluding the few with serious handicaps) are to leave open the possibility for others to enter for mid-pew seating to better ensure reasonable non-required distancing of non-household – and better use of church seating. These protocols were followed during the more sensitive times during the pandemic crisis.
The Archdiocese has given wide discretion to Pastors for Church worship. Following consultation with Mass volunteers, the Pastoral Council, and other individuals – I believe it is best to slowly implement certain changes in our worship.
Weather permitting – the outdoor Mass will continue through the upcoming months of better weather to help provide additional option of worship.
One Livestream Mass per weekend – in the meantime – based on volunteers (usually at the Outdoor Mass time)
The front outdoor Sound System speaker (facing Our Lady’s garden) is expected to operate at all Indoor Weekend Masses, while distribution of Holy Communion will remain within the Church, except at the outdoor Mass.
Singing of Sacred Music will remain limited.
The Collection receptacles in the aisles and driveway will temporarily remain, as the prior pre-pandemic use of a collection basket going pew to pew, while not resume at this time.
The Sign of Peace remains suspended for the health sensibility and comfort of people
The reception of Holy Communion will temporarily remain at the conclusion of all Masses. This may occasionally alter based on the pastoral situation.
Reception of Holy Communion will remain on the hand, in addition to Spiritual Communion.
Flexibility remains important during these times. Please check the Friday weekly parish email to registered parishioners, the parish web or office phone for weekend updates. During unusual circumstances – further adjustments may be made.
The longtime parish goal is to serve the people with both public and virtual services and by following reasonable and the best-practiced methods to protect worshippers, by following the government recommended measures. Thankfully, we are progressing in a more positive direction since March 2020. Let us continue to pray to God for the end of this pandemic as we work together toward that goal.
JUNE 15 - END OF SCHOOL YEAR OUTDOOR MASS
We thank the volunteers who set up and broke down every outdoor School Mass and Service. L to R: Ron Bousquet, Amali Antonyraj, Lou Alvarez, Joe Nixon, Paul Loscocco, Antonyraj Antony and Luigi Reitano.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND OUTDOOR MASS
Our 54th consecutive outdoor weekend Mass was held on Saturday, May 29 due to the expectation of a rainy Sunday morning. It was quite chilly. The coldest Memorial Day weekend in 100 years, but Fr. Pham and Fr. DiPerri and the hardy parishioners of Our Lady's did not let the New England weather stop them from celebrating Mass outdoors. It was also the first weekend in over a year that face masks were optional. It was nice to see the smiles again.

MEMORIAL DAY PRAYER - MAY 30, 2021
On this day of remembrance for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy every day, we think of how they have followed in the footsteps of your son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Please hold our servicemen and women in your strong arms. Cover them with your sheltering grace and your presence as they stand in the gap for our protection. We also remember the families of our troops. We ask for your unique blessings to fill their homes, and we pray your peace, provision, hope and strength will fill their lives.
May the members of our armed forces be supplied with courage to face each day and may they trust in the Lord's mighty power to accomplish each task. Let our military brothers and sisters feel our love and support.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray,
Amen

At all Masses the weekend of March 7, Fr. DiPerri told the story of Fr. Emil Kapaun. “Servant of God” Captain Chaplain Emil Joseph Kapaun. Miracles attributed to him are being reviewed toward sainthood. He died a martyrs death for others during Korean War 1950 as priest/chaplain Prisoner of War.
Father Kapaun was born in Pilsen, Kansas, the Diocese of Wichita, Kansas, on Holy Thursday, April 20, 1916. He was ordained a Priest for the Diocese on June 9, 1940, and entered the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps in 1944.
Separated from the service in 1946, he re-entered the Army in 1948 and was sent to Japan the following year.
In July of 1950 Father Kapaun was ordered to Korea. On November 2 of that same year he was taken as a prisoner of war. In the seven months in prison, Father Kapaun spent himself in heroic service to his fellow prisoners without regard for race, color or creed.
To this there is testimony of men of all faiths. Ignoring his own ill health, he nursed the sick and wounded until a blood clot in his leg prevented his daily rounds. Moved to a so-called hospital, but denied medical assistance, his death soon followed on May 23, 1951.
The Diocese of Wichita and the Vatican have begun the formal process that could lead to Father Kapaun's canonization. In 1993, it was announced that Fr. Kapaun would receive the title of "Servant of God". He received the Medal of Honor posthumously in 2013. For more information on Fr. Kapaun, go to www.catholicdioceseofwichita.org/father-kapuaun

This year many of the special events here at Our Lady’s will be virtual due to the pandemic, but that will not stop us from celebrating our school.
Our Lady’s Academy mission is to support the values of integrity, respect, charity and faithfulness while living and cherishing our Catholic faith. We respect and appreciate the diversity of all cultures and we strive to create an academic environment where the students’ interests, abilities and ideas are valued allowing for their full potential to be unleashed as their future unfolds.

MESSAGE FROM FR. DIPERRI ON STATEMENT FROM CARDINAL O'MALLEY ON ABORTION AMENDMENT
November 18, 2020
The Cardinal asked that we reach out to all parishioners on a most urgent matter.
Last Friday, November 13, the Massachusetts House of Representatives passed an amendment to the state budget, which greatly expands abortion in the Commonwealth.
This measure now rapidly moves to the State Senate where a vote will soon take place. Please see the Cardinal’s letter for the specific details.
Because of the speed that this matter is moving through the legislature, we are encouraging people to prayerfully consider calling/emailing their local State Senator and urge him/her to vote NO on any amendment that dramatically expands abortion in Massachusetts and lessens the few remaining protections on the sanctity of life.
Please visit www.macatholic.org for further listing of Senators if you live beyond the noted communities.

Dear Parishioners:
A 16 minute video has been produced by volunteers highlighting some key moments of life here at Our Lady’s Parish in Waltham, MA, before and during the Coronavirus pandemic, through the summer of 2020.
The photography, audio and layout was conducted by parishioner, Lou Alvarez. The layout on the iMovie was done by a volunteer videographer and technician, and Kristina Kovacevich, worked on the final portion of the video formatting. On behalf of the parish, I express our gratitude for their dedication and quality work.
I am especially thankful to God for all His blessings and for all who strive to advance the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ at our parish, as we work together with those within our archdiocese and beyond. May Almighty God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, continue to strengthen each one of us during these challenging times. May the Blessed Virgin Mary continue to pray for us before the Throne of God. Together we journey as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Please know of my prayers for you and your families, as I kindly ask you to pray for me, and the needs of others throughout the world. Click HERE for video.
